Beth Gifford is the Founder, President & Chief Operating Officer of Columbus Works, serving Columbus and central Ohio. Columbus Works serves area residents providing job readiness training, job placement, and complete wrap around services as a means of eliminating poverty through full-time employment. From three locations in the city, Columbus Works serves neighborhoods experiencing low labor participation and high poverty, such as the South Side, Weinland Park, Linden, Milo-Grogan, Franklinton and the Hilltop. Beth is involved in research on poverty elimination through workforce development with organizations such as the Urban Institute in Washington, D.C., and the Annie E. Casey Foundation. An expert in operational excellence, she is proven to be highly innovative in the application of multiple methods and tools designed to achieve desired and sustainable results. Through this lens Columbus Works has introduced a brain-science of poverty approach and trauma informed care to the services provided their Members. Spending her career in private industry, Beth brings expertise in the full range of human capital management and operational excellence, delivering proven results in Fortune 500 companies, with responsibility for locations throughout the United States, Canada, Central America, Europe, and Asia. She has worked in operations and led the human resources function in manufacturing, logistics, and contact center sectors for companies such as NACCO, Honeywell, ClientLogic, Fiserv, and AetnaIS.

Beth holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Mount Vernon Nazarene University, a Masters in Business Administration from Franklin University, is a Certified Change Management Practitioner, and earned her LEAN Six Sigma Black Belt from The Ohio State University, completing projects in Costa Rica and the U.S. She is a former adjunct Professor at the University of Kentucky Gatton School of Business, and Ohio Dominican University. She is currently a member of faculty at Cedarville University where she has been involved in MBA course development and is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Business Administration.
